Benjamin has served diverse learning communities in various capacities for the last eight years. In faith communities, libraries, non-profit organizations, and schools, he has worked to support youth through differentiated and culturally responsive teaching, community-building, conflict transformation, and justice-oriented advocacy. His vision for liberating learning environments includes the empowerment of youth voices, an ethic of holistic community care, and the transformative implementation of restorative justice and social and emotional learning.
Benjamin's favorite aspects of his identity are his familial roles of husband and father, and he thoroughly enjoys daily nature walks and story time with his wife and two children. In his spare time, he also enjoys playing board and computer games, writing poetry, singing, and listening to all things hip-hop and lo-fi.
