Roy spent a year as a preschool teacher before earning a master's degree at Longy School of Music. While studying there she established a branch of the Lullaby Project, bringing student musicians together with at-risk parents experiencing homelessness to help them create a lullaby for their child.

Roy enjoys music, yoga, and cooking.
