Mandy Balek-Stephens

School Director
Golda Meir School Upper Campus

After earning a BS in Physical and Health Education and a MS in Counselor Education from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Mandy followed her passion for helping students find their way to an academic program best suited for their skills, abilities, and interests as an Academic Advisor. She served as an Academic Advisor to Exploring and students struggling academically at the Advising & Career Center at UW-Parkside for 3 years prior to becoming the Assistant Director and then Director of Academic Advising Services at Carroll University for the last 7 years. In this role, Mandy worked with both students and their parents, helping to improve their experience while transitioning to a college life and the academic rigor. She also worked closely with faculty across campus to create the Exploring Program for students, to assist them in the academic and career discernment process.

Outside of work Mandy enjoys spending time with her wife and child outdoors with their pup. They spend much of the summer kayaking, hiking and spending time at the beach.

"If you're always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be." -Maya Angelou
