Before joining the Schuler program in October 2013, Carissa graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and Teachers College at Columbia University. She worked as a School Counselor with New York City public schools and at a partial-hospitalization in Pittsburgh, PA as an Educational Therapuetic Specialist. During her time at Schuler, she gained experience as an Educational Counselor and as a point person for the Educational Counselor team. Her passion for working with students of all ages as well as her desire to help students reach their fullest potential has guided her career thus far!
When she's not in the office, Carissa is usually at cheerleading practice as the Head Cheerleading Coach at Mundelein High School. At home, she loves to spend time with her family and run around with her dog, Carson. She also enjoys crafting, spending time outside, and adventuring to new places whenever she has the chance.
"My time at Schuler has been the most impactful years of my career. The Scholars and staff that I have worked with have taught me the true meaning of passion, dedication, and resilience. This organization is making a difference and I am so proud to be a part of it."

“So much of what we do begins with helping Schuler Scholars commit to the effort to get accepted into top colleges. From there you want them to believe that it will happen.”
