Mr. Jack W. Schuler co-founded the Schuler Scholar Program in 2001 with his daughter, Tanya, and currently serves as President. Mr. Schuler learned the value of an education at a very young age. When his father immigrated to America, he arrived as an educated man having previously earned a college degree. This education paved the way for his father’s future success in America. His father’s example serves as the basis for the Schuler Scholar Program in providing exceptional educational and life experiences to each Scholar, turning out top students and future business leaders every year.
Prior to founding the Schuler Scholar Program, Mr. Schuler spent over 30 years in the pharmaceutical industry, including having served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Abbott Laboratories. Today, Mr. Schuler serves on the board of directors for several companies, including Accelerate Diagnostics, Quidel Corporation and Biodesix, Inc.
Mr. Schuler was recently honored as a "Local Legend" at the History Center of Lake Forest-Lake Bluff, joining the list of prestigious past recipients including astronaut James Lovell and Cubs Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg.
Mr. Schuler received a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University and an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business Administration.
Mr. Schuler is an avid outdoorsman, opera buff and Chicago sports fan. Originally from Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, Mr. Schuler now resides in Lake Bluff with his wife, Renate, of over 50 years. Together, he and Renate have three children and eight grandchildren.
