Maricarla joined Schuler in July 2018 after graduating from Swarthmore College. A Schuler Scholar from Round Lake High School, Maricarla now works as a Family Engagement Associate after being a Scholar Coach at Zion-Benton High School. She is assisting the Schuler school teams in projects such as family college trips and family workshops. Being an alum has helped her connect with families, which she hopes can further strengthen the partnership between families and the program. 

Outside of work, Maricarla enjoys horror movies and spending time with her family, friends, and two cats, Peppa and Georgie.
