At Round Lake High School, Annliz excelled. She was ranked 6th in her graduating class and was an Illinois State Scholar. Her accomplishments helped her gain access to Johns Hopkins University. Annliz immigrated to the U.S. from Kenya in 2003 and she is a first generation college student.
At Johns Hopkins, Annliz is pursuing a Public Health Studies Major. She also participates in several clubs and activities on and off-campus, including Habitat for Humanity, the Tutorial Project, an after-school tutoring program for elementary school students in urban Baltimore, and SHARE, a club that provides international medical relief by collecting unused medical supplies from hospitals room and redistributes them to developing nations. She is the financial co-chair of Project Prevent, a campus group which organizes an annual health fair to provide free primary health care services to uninsured members of underserved communities in Baltimore. The summer after her freshmen year, she took advantage of an opportunity to travel to Honduras to volunteer with the Global Public Health Brigades. There, she built stoves and latrines for families, led community meetings on safety and health, and worked in elementary schools. .
