Helping high potential youth gain access into the most selective colleges and universities in the country
Schuler program staff work closely with partner school guidance counselors to ensure that scholars receive comprehensive academic counseling support. Each scholar is assigned a Schuler Educational Counselor (EC). The Schuler ECs monitor scholar grades and course selections and maintain regular communication with scholars and their families.
Each scholar participates in the Schuler Reading Improvement Program. The goal of this program is to improve the reading fluency, comprehension and vocabulary skills of scholars so that they can successfully read the high volume of material assigned in college and so that they become life-long readers. The program begins with one-on-one sessions and progresses to small reading groups.
Schuler staff and trained volunteers provide subject specific tutoring and lead after-school enrichment programs that focus on academics, college readiness and personal development. After-school programming is mandatory and scholars are assigned to a cohort that meets every week after school for a minimum of 90 minutes.
The after-school academic enrichment targets math, writing, time management, personal development, goal setting, and decision making.
