Scholars, College Representatives Gather for Schuler Summer College Program Event

12/08/2011

The Schuler Summer College Program Event occurred on November 11th, 2011 at the Renaissance Chicago North Shore Hotel in Northbrook, Illinois. The fifth annual Schuler sponsored event hosted 19 colleges and 150 students for the day.

The purpose of the Summer College Program Event is twofold – students have the opportunity to learn about summer programs they plan to apply to and Summer College Representatives have the opportunity to meet directly with students and promote their programs.

“Thank you for hosting such a wonderful event,” said Alix Sawyer, Admissions Coordinator for Great Books - Stanford University and Amherst College. “All of the scholars I met with were articulate, thoughtful and passionate about their academic studies.  I look forward to learning more about them in the coming weeks."

Schuler also hosted several tours of Schuler partner schools for Summer College Representatives. The feedback from these school tours was overwhelmingly positive. “I must tell you that my visit to Waukegan High School was incredibly helpful,” said Emily Cihon, Director of Campus Programs at the University of Rochester. “I now have a much better understanding of how the Schuler Scholar Program operates within a school and gained insight into the social and economic hardships that face schools, students and families in the greater Chicago area. The Schuler Scholar program is a gift!”
