College Scholar at Dartmouth persuades Library of Congress to drop the term "illegal alien"

College Scholar Oscar Cornejo, Warren Township High School ’13, Dartmouth College ’17 was part of a group of undocumented students and allies at Dartmouth (CoFIRED) who worked together with Dartmouth Library staff to petition that the Library of Congress drop the category “illegal aliens.” The first time around they were denied their petition, but their continued efforts allowed for their petition to be reconsidered. A few days ago, the Library of Congress released their decision to get rid of the term “illegal aliens,” and CoFIRED – which was co-founded by Oscar, is being credited for initiating the effort!
