Academics

Schuler staff members work closely with partnership school guidance counselors to ensure that Schuler Scholars receive comprehensive academic counseling support. Each Scholar is assigned a Schuler Educational Counselor (EC). The Schuler ECs assist with course selection, monitor Scholars' grades, and maintain regular communication with Scholars and their families.

Schuler staff and trained volunteers provide subject-specific tutoring and lead after-school enrichment programs that focus on academics, college readiness, and personal development. After-school programs are mandatory and Scholars are assigned to a cohort that meets every week after school for 90 minutes.

Reading Enrichment Program

In addition to taking rigorous courses, each Scholar participates in the Reading Enrichment Program.  The goal of this program is to improve Scholars' reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary skills so that they can successfully read the high volume of material assigned in college and so that they become life-long readers. The program includes one-on-one sessions and small reading groups.

STEM Program

The Schuler Scholar STEM Program supports Scholars’ learning of high school mathematics, science and related subjects so that they have the skills needed to gain admission to the college of their choice, succeed in the math and science courses required for their fields of study, and succeed in their chosen careers.

The program includes:
