How is the Schuler AmeriCorps program administered?

In Illinois, most AmeriCorps grant funding goes to the governor appointed Illinois Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service, which in turn awards grants to nonprofit groups to respond to local needs. For further clarification, please visit the AmeriCorps website at www.americorps.gov.

How are members (Scholar Coaches) paid?

The AmeriCorps living stipend is the financial support provided to service members during their year of service.  Scholar Coaches receive a stipend which is paid bi-monthly.

A $5,730 education award can be used to repay student loans or for future education expenses. Federal student loans may be deferred during the term of service.
